    Position Description

    Dear Friend,

Northampton Christian Church (NhCC) in Hampton, Virginia is presently seeking to fill the position of Lead Minister.

NhCC is a non-denominational, independent Christian Church, located in Hampton, Va which is approximately 30 miles northeast of Virginia Beach, Va. Northampton will be celebrating its 63rd anniversary in May of this year. The Sunday morning service is a contemporary style of worship. Our church building has an auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately 300, a detached garage/picnic shelter, and a detached 1,800 square foot building with a kitchen useful for fellowship, meetings, and training events. The property encompasses approximately 6.5 acres. Our church maintains good financial health and seeks to grow our ministry in this area.

At present, our staff consists of an interim minister and a part-time worship leader. Our full-time ministry-coordinator recently stepped down in the Fall of 2023 to pursue a job in the private sector. We have chosen to not fill the ministry-coordinator position until the lead minister position has been filled. This will allow the new lead minister to participate in the selection of this staff position. We have budgeted for 2024 and moving forward for a full-time lead minister, a full-time ministry-coordinator/administrative position, and a part-time worship leader. The compensation package will be consistent with the person’s training, skill set, experience, and cost of living in the local area around Northampton.
The total compensation is expected to include salary, housing, insurance, retirement, professional development, and paid and excused absences.

Our lead minister needs to hold a conservative position on Scripture and must be committed to the inspiration of the Word of God. We are searching for a man of faith and vision who will lead taking our church to new levels of growth and ministry. Our new lead minister needs to be experienced and qualified in terms of preaching and leadership. He must have a heart for evangelism. He needs to both have a passion for the young people but also a desire to interact with the senior saints. He needs to be a good leader who leads by example and a person who exhibits a high level of integrity. We also need to have a minister who is willing, if the Lord wills, to make a long term commitment to Northampton Christian Church. The leadership believes that one of the main characteristics of a healthy church is longevity on the part of our staff.

If you know of a qualified candidate, please inform them of our open position. Resumes will be accepted until June 10 , 2024.

Applicants should send resumes and references to:

    Marlon Crowder
    Search Committee Chairman

    1409 Todd’s Lane
    Hampton, VA 23666

Resumes and references can also be emailed to:marlon.crowder61@gmail.com.

God Bless you and your ministry. Thanks for your assistance in our search.

    In Christ,
    Elders

Investment of Time, Prayer, and Love

“I’ll never forget how the Bible and Ministry professors at KCU cared about me as a person. They didn’t just see me
as a student number. They invested time, prayer, and love into my life and my ministry, and I’m eternally thankful
for their influence.”
