Bachelor of Science, Counseling Psychology
Psychology is one of the most popular college majors that can lead to a satisfying career in many different fields. A bachelor’s degree in psychology can prepare a person for a variety of psychology careers, and can also prepare one for higher professional degrees such as: masters, or doctoral degrees in clinical psychology, school psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, general/experimental psychology, law, or medicine.
2013 statistics (Bureau of Labor Statistics) reveal occupational & employment wages for clinical, counseling and school psychologists with a mean annual wage of $72,710.00. Annual wages ranged from $39,020-$112,380.00. According the Bureau of Labor Statistics employment of psychologists is projected to grow 12% from 2012 to 2022. Job prospects are best for those obtaining doctoral degrees. One of the fastest growing careers in the field is Industrial/Organizational Psychologists.
KCU psychology students graduate with 120 hours in general education, Bible courses, and Counseling Psychology courses. KCU Counseling Psychology students complete a 400 hour internship in a human service organization which will provide a ‘hands-on’ opportunity to apply classroom learning in the real world human service situations in multi-cultural settings.

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
Students who choose Social Work as a major are interested in working with meeting the needs of hurting people and empowering them to improve their lives. The program’s integration of Christ’s teaching into a traditional BSW curriculum allows students to learn how to effectively minister to the hurting within professional boundaries. In the junior year, students participate in a 40 hour lab experience in an agency setting, and in the senior year, students complete a 420 hour practicum experience in an agency setting.
Fields of practice include: Aging, Alcohol / Substance Abuse, Children and Youth, Adoption, Foster Care, Residential Care, In-home support, Child or Adult Protective Services, Crisis Services, Domestic Violence Prevention and Services, Youth Services, Community Organization/Planning/ Development, Corrections/ Criminal Justice, Disabilities (Physical / Mental), Family Services, Family Counseling/Life Education/Family Planning, International work, Income Maintenance, Public Assistance, Social Insurances, Medical and Health Care, Mental Health: Inpatient and Outpatient Services, and Private Practice, Occupational Social Work, School Social Work, and Veterans Services.
A KCU Bachelor of Social Work graduate is eligible to take the Bachelor of Social Work licensure in any state in which it is offered. Graduates from a CSWE accredited baccalaureate program are eligible to apply for advanced standing in Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, reducing the length of time to complete the MSW.
