    Avalon Church of Christ is an independent non-denominational Christian church of 225+ located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Our mission is to lead all people to a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. Avalon uses an assimilation model based on 4-C’s: Connect; Care; Community; and Core to help individuals know and grow in their relationship with God.

    The Senior Minister serves as the church’s most visible and senior employee. He is responsible for aligning staff and volunteers to support ministry activities that help individuals and families grow closer to Christ. He models Christ-like behavior in his public and private life, leads his family well, and ensures Avalon’s systems, practices, policies and activities effectively deliver on our mission. He sets and maintains performance standards consistent with Avalon’s policies and procedures and guides the staff and volunteers who perform ministry duties.

    Being a key participant in teaching that Word to the Church is the most important role a minister of the Gospel and pastor of the flock can fill. With these thoughts firmly established as the ultimate priority for our Senior Minister, the following provides greater detail as to the various functional areas of responsibility of the role inclusive of the reporting relationship of the Senior Minister at Avalon Church of Christ.

    Key Relationships:
    Elders. The Senior Minister works closely with and reports to the elders who serve 4-year, renewable terms. Elders are called and after confirmation by the congregation, ordained by the church. Elders are responsible for the spiritual health of Avalon. The elders consider the Senior Minister as an integral component of the church’s leadership team and rely upon him to maintain day-to-day operations and communications for Avalon. The Senior Minister may be called to serve as an elder. As a cohesive leadership team, Avalon’s elders and Senior Minister make and deliver strategic and operational plans.

    Church Staff. Our staff provides church duties through one or more of the following paid positions: Administrative Assistant, Care Director, Community Director, Student Director, and/or Children’s Director. Other part-time staff positions support weekly worship and videography needs. 

The Senior Minister oversees staff training and development and is responsible for hiring/dismissing staff personnel after consultation and guidance from the elders. He develops, obtains elder approval, implements, and maintains church policies and procedures. The Senior Minister ensures all staff members are actively growing in their knowledge and understanding of professional ministry.

    The Senior Minister demonstrates biblical stewardship by helping the finance committee and elders develop and execute the church’s annual budget as approved by the congregation. The Senior Minister ensures Avalon’s administrative and communication methods are effective and timely.

    Congregation. The senior minister is the primary preacher for corporate worship and, after accounting for guest preachers and planned absences, delivers approximately 44 weekly sermons rooted in scripture. In coordination with the elders, staff, and other key volunteers, the Senior Minister plans and leads discipleship and ministry training for the staff and congregation. He monitors the overall well-being of the congregation to ensure they are spiritually nourished and informed and receive appropriate pastoral care. Pastoral care may include hospital/shut-in visitation and communion, home visits, counseling, marriages, and funerals.

    Community. Avalon is an important member of the Tidewater community. The Senior Minister ensures we maintain a positive, Christian presence in the local and global community.

    Community Christian Church of Christ is seeking a full-time minister. We are looking for a minister who is knowledgeable and grounded in God’s Word and has the passion to proclaim it. He must believe in and stand on God’s plan for salvation—Belief, Repentance, Confession, Baptism by immersion. We want someone who is serious about leading people to Jesus. He must be able to relate and communicate with people of all ages.

    He will be expected to preach on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and lead Bible Study on Wednesday nights as well as teaching Sunday School where needed.     Position Description

    Rice Station Christian Church (RSCC), Irvine, Kentucky, is seeking an energetic Spirit-filled, Christian Leader to fill the role of Youth Minister.  The ideal candidate is a person who can relate well with young people, parents, and adult volunteers,  and has a strong understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of an Independent Christian Church.

    RSCC is a diverse group from youth to seniors and is led by a group of Elders.  The Youth Minister’s primary target audience will involve the youth, specifically ages 2 through 18,  and continuing mentoring those above 18.  The youth minister shall be responsible to the Elers of the Church for the ministry of  the Word of God and to perform such duties as designated by the Elders holding to the principles as prescribed in the bible.

    Other responsibilities are:
    Presenting a youth sermon each Sunday morning during Worship Services as well as each Sunday Evening Worship Service and Wednesday Prayer Meeting Services.

    Conducting monthly activities involving the youth to generate spiritual growth and group unity.

    Conducting regular office hours to address needs of RSCC’s leadership and congregation.

    Working with church leaders to find ministry opportunities for youth in the broader church family.

    Developing and presenting to the Elders, a Vision for the Role of the youth minister.  This shall include a list of goals and target accomplishments.  These will be reviewed and evaluated regularly to maintain the integrity of the Youth Ministers’ and RSCC’s efforts.

    By virtue of this office, the youth minister shall be a member of all boards and committees, within the church thereof, and shall the right to speak in each.  He shall have voting privileges only in congregational meetings.

    The youth minister will be responsible to the Congregation through the Elders for the performance of the duties of the respective office, the character of their doctrinal teachings, and their moral lives.  At all times, the youth minister’s employment and his duties shall be subject to the Elders.

    The youth minister will be reviewing annually in relation to fulfillment of the position’s responsibilities and salary.  This review will be conducted upon the anniversary of his initial employment, unless otherwise appointed by the Elders.

    The youth minister is permitted to perform services outside of Rice Station, special engagements, etc. upon the approval of the Elders.  

    In exchange for the duties performed by the minister, as outlined in the Youth Minister Position Description, Rice Station Christian Church (RSCC) will provide a salary based on the nature of employment.

    For appropriate performance of the youth minister’s duties, RSCC will compensate the youth minister a gross annual salary of to be determine ($ .00).  This amount does not include any tips, wages, salaries, or moneys otherwise received from duties performed not in relation to the employment associated with RSCC (i.e. revivals, special engagements, etc).  The youth minister will be responsible for any and all taxes (Federal FICA, State and Local, etc.) as well as any medical insurance.

    Additionally, RSCC will provide the youth minister one “fill-up” per week to be utilized in the minister’s vehicle in association with his position’s duties.

    The youth minister will be given two (2) weeks paid vacation per year to be utilized at the youth minister’s discretion and approved by the Elders along with one “personal” day each week.

    The Board of Elders and Deacons shall review the youth minister’s salary and performance on an annual basis.

    The Board of Elders and Deacons shall review and approve or disapprove any expenses that may arise involving the employment of the youth minister (i.e. conventions, travel arrangements, etc.)

    • Capable and willing to fill in preaching from time to time is a plus, but not a requirement.
    • Plan and lead events such as CIY conferences, weeks at church camp, and other ministry and fellowship related events.

    Physical requirements

    This is a physically demanding job where the incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, and so forth.

     

     

     

    1. The Board of Directors shall be responsible for the supervision of the camp director whose duties shall include, but not be limited to the following:

     

    1. Will oversee the day-to-day operation of the camp facility and programs.
    2. Will inform Directors of maintenance and repairs, construction and facility and equipment needs for smooth operation through regular written reports and/or at the Director’s meetings.
    3. Will work with the camp deans/retreat organizers to establish programs and events designed for the spiritual enrichment, development, and growth of those participating in said events.
    4. Will make recommendations to the Board of Directors that will promote the growth and development of the programs and facilities of the camp.
    5. Shall not have authority to enter into any agreement or contract on behalf of the Corporation without the express written authorization of the Board of Directors
    6. Fundraise to both supporting churches and individuals.
    7. Supervise the physical appearance, building maintenance, cleanliness, address electrical and plumbing issues of the camp.
    8. Maintain the grounds of the camp.
    9. See that any other repairs are made to the property as needed and authorized by the Directors.
    10. Oversee the registration of campers.
    11. Ensure a smooth transition between camps.
    12. Handle all camper waivers, insurance and claims.
    13. Supervise the publicity and promotion of the camp during the off-season to maximize the use of the camp.
    14. Supervise the canteen and get an accounting. This involves purchasing the snacks, etc. for the canteen that is used during the camp sessions.
    15. Supervise the kitchen staff and dietitian. This includes the planning of meals, purchase of food, rotation of stock, hiring of a cook for large retreats and camps, etc.
    16. Prepare meals for smaller retreats
    17. Recruit and oversee summer staff to operate the camp during summer
    18. Supervise, mentor and disciple all volunteers and/or employees hired to maintain the camp facilities.
    19. Train and staff Climbing tower/zipline
    20. Will represent the camp at rallies in the area as well as schedule visits to member congregations to update them on the happenings of the camp.
    21. Schedule and supervise workdays for cleanup and maintenance of the camp to ensure readiness for the camp season.
    22. Will serve as a clearinghouse for reservation of the campgrounds and property for use by church groups at times other than the camp season.
    23. Is responsible for monitoring and working with those who are in charge of groups at the camp to avoid the possibility of improprieties.
    24. Obtain a pool operator’s license and maintain a 61,000 gallon pool.
    25. Dream and execute plans with board of directors to ensure the future of the camp.

    Mt.     A degree in theology & ministry is preferred but optional with a sufficient history of work experience related to the opportunity at MPCC.

    As part of your employment at MPCC, you will receive three weeks of paid vacation each year and one day off during the week as well as Saturday.     First Christian Church in Christopher, Illinois is searching for a senior minister

    with a restoration church tradition.  We are a well-established congregation in a

    growing community.  Christopher is located in southern Illinois, 2 hours southeast

    We are seeking a candidate that meets the New Testament elder requirements in

    1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-4; a candidate who can preach the

    Gospel effectively in person and in writing for Sunday worship, Sunday school

    classes and mid-week bible studies.  We desire a minister who can project a strong

    presence in the pulpit and who enjoys meeting new people and interacting with the

    community.  We are seeking a positive person who is a problem solver, able to

    lead with energy and enthusiasm.

     

    Our minister will foster congregational participation in various ministries, which

    include assisting in VBS, youth activities and visitations at homes and hospitals,

    when possible.  We desire a candidate that can provide pastoral care, including

    marriage counseling, weddings and funerals.  Being technologically savvy,

    including being able to communicate using the church website, Facebook and

    smart phones effectively will be necessities.

    Job Title: Full-Time Youth (Student) Minister

    Church Size: 200 to 250 members

    Position Type: Full-Time

    Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as a Full-Time Youth (Student) Minister at our vibrant and welcoming church. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Bible, hold a relevant Bible degree, and possess prior experience as a full-time youth minister. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and nurture the spiritual growth of our youth community, helping them develop a meaningful and personal relationship with God.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Youth Ministry Leadership: Plan, organize, and execute engaging youth programs, events, and activities that foster spiritual growth, discipleship, and community among our young members (Middle School and High School).
    2. Teaching and Preaching: Deliver compelling and relevant biblical teachings during youth gatherings, services, and events, catering to the unique needs and challenges of today’s youth. May have opportunities to preach during our Adult Corporate Worship.
    3. Pastoral Care: Provide compassionate pastoral care and counseling to youth, offering guidance, support, and encouragement in their personal faith journeys and everyday lives.
    4. Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and lead a team of dedicated youth volunteers, empowering them to engage and mentor the youth within the church community effectively.
    5. Discipleship: Work to disciple young people in their relationship with Christ.
    6. Outreach and Evangelism: Develop and implement outreach initiatives to connect with youth outside the church to expand the ministry’s reach and impact in the local community.
    7. Collaborative Ministry: Work closely with other church staff and leadership to ensure alignment of youth ministry with the church’s overall vision, values, and goals.
    8. Parent and Family Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents and families, encouraging their active involvement and support in the youth ministry.
    9. Administrative Duties: Oversee budgeting, event planning, communication, and record-keeping related to the youth ministry.

    Recommendations:

    1. Bible Degree: Possess a relevant bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited theological institution, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of Scripture.
    2. Full-Time Youth Ministry Experience: A minimum of 2 years of prior experience as a full-time youth minister with a proven track record of effectively leading and growing a youth ministry is preferred. However, this is negotiable.
    3. Faith and Character: Exhibit a genuine and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, exemplifying a strong commitment to living out biblical principles in all aspects of life.
    4. Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a gift for engaging and connecting with youth, parents, and volunteers.
    5. Leadership and Teamwork: Display strong leadership qualities, inspiring and motivating youth and adult volunteers to work together cohesively for the youth ministry’s success.
    6. Creativity and Innovation: Show a creative approach to ministry, finding new and relevant ways to reach and engage today’s youth culture.
    7. Relational and Empathetic: Possess a heart for building meaningful relationships with youth, showing empathy, and understanding their unique challenges and struggles.
