Church Relations

Smyrna Church of Christ is an instrumental church that has been in existence since 1977.

Currently the active membership is approximately 55 with a strong desire to grow.  We are seeking a full-time minister who is called by God and is equipped to effectively preach and teach the Word of God. Candidate must be able to fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation through visitations, prayer, conducting weddings, funerals, and administering the ordinances of the church. Must possess biblical and spiritual qualities as outlined in Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.  Currently the minister will work under the oversight of our Leadership Team until a new Board of Elders can be established. He must believe in and support the Restoration Movement.  Our Worship Center is 9,975 sq. ft., which includes a minister office that was added in 2019.  The facility also includes a 9,700 sq. ft. Fellowship Hall with additional offices and classrooms. Also available to the minister is a 2-story, 2,200 sq. ft. parsonage located on the grounds of the church property. (See pictures on page 2).

Smyrna is a small town with a population of about 13,000. Two new developments are expected in the next couple of years within one mile of the church building with a potential increase in population of 3,000. Delaware’s climate is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. Numerous outdoor and indoor activities are available in the area. Smyrna is less than a two-hour drive of Philadelphia, Baltimore, Annapolis, DC, and Delaware beaches.

Preferred Minister Qualifications:

1. Must be a licensed and ordained minister in the Church of Christ/Christian Church.
2. Be a visionary with sound judgment and discernment.
3. Prefer a minimum of five years ministry experience.
4. Prefer a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited Restoration Movement College or University.
5. Possess effective communication skills (written and oral).
6. Growth-oriented and pastoral care capability.
7. Demonstrated personal financial awareness and responsibility.
8. Committed to continuing education and development.
9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a congregation.
10. Possess effective administration skills and able to organize and lead staff.
11. Three letters of recommendation.

FCC is looking for a seasoned minister to lead our current congregation in the small, rural town of Covington VA

Role:   

The FCC Lead Minister has primary responsibility for preaching and teaching the Word of God and to provide leadership, shepherding and vision to the Body in partnership with the Elders, Staff, Ministry Teams and Congregation.  He will work along side of the elders and youth coordinator to develop a long time vision plan in order to provide outreach within the community while supporting all members of the congregation in their journey for personal spiritual growth and discipleship.

 Minimum Qualifications:

• Passionately embodies God’s word and lives out the gospel in his daily life.
• Shows a deep commitment to Christ and has heart for all people of all ages
• As a baptized (immersed) believer, fully understands and supports the scripture-based doctrine of the Restoration Movement.

• Competent in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships.
• Potential and desire to remain in a long-term (5 year minimum) ministry at FCC.
• Strong in biblical and expository preaching, with previous experience and education
• History of faithful ministry experience of at least five years and proven leadership in an outreach-focused and mission minded church.

• Empowering leader who motivates the congregation into selfless service that honors the example of Jesus
• Computer proficient, able to relate to and participate in social media in a manner that promotes, engages, and encourages the Congregation and others receiving the message; which may include online services and bible study as needed

• A commitment to/and agreement with the statements of beliefs of First Christian Church as stated in the Constitution and Bylaws
• A Christian/theologically based Bachelor’s degree, or higher, is required; Master’s preferred
• Must pass DSS background check

The Fairview Christian Church is looking to hire a full-time associate minister.  This individual will work in cooperation with the leadership and the senior minister to encourage spiritual growth in our church family and especially with the junior/senior high age group.  The individual would create activities and develop programs for sixth through twelfth grade that will promote fun, fellowship, and spiritual development.  We are looking for a person who has a passion for young people, and who wants to pour into their lives by teaching them God’s word, supporting their everyday lives, and by connecting with them in relationships.

Some things we are looking for:

• Experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
• Committed to the scriptures and committed to teaching them accurately and correctly.
• Strong beliefs that align with the beliefs of the Fairview Christian Church.
• Capable and willing to work with students sixth grade through twelfth grade.
• In cooperation with senior minister, oversee a part time children’s director.
• Able to recruit, oversee, and supervise volunteers to participate in teaching, events, service projects, etc.
• Capable and willing to fill in preaching from time to time is a plus, but not a requirement.
• Plan and lead events such as CIY conferences, weeks at church camp, and other ministry and fellowship related events.
• Willingness to visit and take part in the lives of our students, both in times of need, and also during their growth and development of everyday life.

The Fairview Christian Church is looking to hire a part-time children’s ministry director.  This individual will work in cooperation with the leadership, senior minister, and associate minister of youth to encourage spiritual growth in our church family and especially with the fifth grade and below age group.  The individual would create activities and develop programs for fifth grade and below that will promote fun, fellowship, and spiritual development.  We are looking for a person who has a passion for children, and who wants to pour into their lives by teaching them God’s word, supporting their everyday lives, and by connecting with them in relationships.

Alleghany Church of Christ, located in Christiansburg, Virginia; is looking for a full-time minister.

Alleghany is a New Testament Christian Church with roots in the Restoration movement.

First Christian Church, located in Titusville FL is seeking a Sr. Minister to fill an open position.  The selected candidate will lead a growing congregation of 200+ members and have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a college associated with the Christian Churches/Independent Churches of Christ. A MDIV is preferred.
• Minimum10 years’ experience as a church pastor or equivalent.
• Must have proven organizational and leadership skills.
• Able to lead a staff of 6+
• Work with a team of elders developing new elder and deacon candidates.
• Must have an understanding of Social Media.

Dinuba Christian Church in Dinuba, CA is seeking a pastor. The successful candidate must hold to the basic principles of the Stone Campbell Restoration Movement, practice immersion baptism, have a pro-life stance and believe in the Biblical standards of marriage. The Children’s Minister has the responsibility to ensure that the ministry to birth through 5th grade children and their parents aligns with the beliefs, values and strategy of Central Christian Church. They will possess the ability to mobilize volunteers to provide a safe, caring environment where kids experience the love of Jesus. Candidate will also oversee a paid Children’s Assistant and paid nursery staff. Full-time is preferred, but we are open to Part-time in the right situation. Alpha is seeking mission-minded Christian, married couples to work on our beautiful, rural campus as parents to children in need who live in our residences.  Each married couple becomes residential parents in one of our homes to children in need of a safe place to call home.  We also have an on-site, private, Christian school that the children attend, as well as plenty of ranch acreage that allows the children to participate in raising farm animals for the 4-H programs that they participate in.

The House Parent is responsible for the care and training of children placed in the home, including nurturing the children’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs through instruction, example, and appropriate activities. This position is responsible for all of the tasks relating to personal care, housing, meals, study and recreational activities of children in a Christian residential care setting.

–       Oversee and develop students (grades 6th – 12th) to know, grow, and serve Christ in order to be sent out as ambassadors of Him.

–       This will include, but is not limited to:
