Why I Chose a Small College

Choosing a college is a huge decision, and there are so many things to consider when deciding where you want to spend the next few years of your life. When making my decision, choosing KCU felt like the right choice because of the close community, personal connections, opportunities, and overall small-college experience. I wanted to attend a school where I didn’t feel like I was just a number.

The Community
One of my favorite things about KCU is the community here. Everywhere you go, you always see a familiar face, which makes our campus feel so much more welcoming and comfortable. It’s much easier to make connections with other students, professors, and staff members. The friendships that I have built here are some of the most meaningful parts of my college experience.

Class Sizes
Another reason I chose a small college was because of the smaller class sizes. Having fewer students in my classes gives me the opportunity to ask questions, get involved in discussions, and really get to know my professors. It feels nice knowing that my professors know my name and want to help me succeed inside and outside the classroom.

Many Opportunities
Being at a small college also brings many opportunities to get involved. Whether it’s joining a life group, playing a sport, attending the many campus events, or having a work-study position, there are so many ways to become a part of the community. Being involved in these activities has allowed me to meet all kinds of new people and create experiences that I will remember forever.

Overall, choosing a small college has been one of the best decisions for me. I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships, become involved in many activities, and feel like I truly belong.
