My Favorite Study Spots On Campus

A young woman smiles in front of a graphic background with text that reads, “My favorite study spots on campus! – Sallie Robbins.”.

Finding the right place to study can make or break your academic success. You have to find somewhere that has the right environment for you to be your most productive self. At Kentucky Christian University, students have several options when they need to get their work done.

Three of my favorite study spots are the dorm, the Student Life Center, and the library.

A go-to option for studying is your dorm. Each of our dorm buildings here at KCU have a lobby that is a great space to meet for a study group or to study on your own. The comfort of your own room can be nice as well when working on schoolwork. Utilizing your desk or even cozyingup on your bed to dive into course material. The dorm can be a great option to study when you want to stay in, or are looking for a more relaxed environment to get some work done.

The McKenzie Student Life Center has a few different spots where you could study. In the Emma Lounge, there are couches that provide comfortable seating while working on schoolwork by yourself or with a group. If you are someone who focuses better with background noise, the liveliness of pool and ping pong games is perfect for your study session. If you prefer a quieter environment but still want to be around the buzz of campus life, in the lobby is University Coffee. There is a booth and tables, but my personal favorite spot to study in the Life Center is at the counter with the high chairs. There are plenty of outlets all around the coffee shop, so your devices will always have a place to recharge.

My personal favorite place to study is the library. It is a quiet environment where everyone is focused on the same thing–getting their work done. There are two private study rooms you can check out with your student ID for small group studying in an even quieter environment. There are also desktop computers and a printer for students to use. The library is a convenient study spot if you are working on a research paper that requires numerous sources because you have so many physical books at your fingertips.

Whether you prefer the comfort of your own room, the social atmosphere of the Student Life Center, or finding a quiet space in the library, KCU offers several great places to get your work done. Each location has its own advantages, so the best study spot depends on what you like best. The next time you have an assignment to work on, group project, or exam to study, try one of these study spots and find what works best for you.

Prepared to Go Make Disciples

“Thank you Dr. Brickey for pouring so much time, love, and effort into my education to make sure that I became a nurse that is prepared to go make disciples for Christ. I will forever be grateful to you and the Yancey School of Nursing.”
