The KCU Worship Collective had the opportunity to lead worship for the “In Action” middle school and high school retreat, at Elkhorn Valley Christian Service Camp this past February.
With a little over one hundred students in attendance, The team was entrusted with leading worship for main sessions and overseeing all music, sound, and production for the event of over 100 students.
Student Ready To Engage
From the very first session, the students came ready to engage. We sang a number of upbeat songs, and saw an incredible response from students fully participating—singing loudly, lifting their hands, and even dancing in worship.
“Their energy and sincerity made each session meaningful, and it was clear that God was at work.” the team noted.
Building Christ-Centered Community
Beyond the stage, the team had the privilege of sitting with students during meals and small groups, which allowed the chance to build genuine relationships throughout the weekend with students and connect with many amazing campers. The team even joined in on camp games like signs, ping pong, carpet ball, and more. Those moments of simply being present were just as impactful as leading from the platform.
A Message of Active Faith
The retreat’s key theme of “Active Faith” was illustrated by the weekend speaker who did an excellent job challenging students through four stories from the Gospels paired with four stories from his own life, encouraging them to live out their faith in action.
Partnering in Ministry
The Elkhorn Valley camp staff was incredibly gracious and caring toward our team, and it was a joy to serve alongside them. We are grateful for the opportunity to support what God is doing at Elkhorn Valley Service Camp and thankful for a weekend of meaningful worship and ministry.
