If you are an athlete or a student, have you ever struggled with finding time? As an athlete and student at Kentucky Christian University, I can testify that the academic and athletic life might seem a little overwhelming at times; however, there is absolutely a way to balance it! In order to become successful at this balance, tips like planning ahead, creating achievable goals, and having good support systems can be very beneficial.
Take an early step, and look at both your academic and athletic schedules. Whether it is practices, games, assignments, or deadlines, you can organize these things into a planner or online calendar so that you can be prepared for what is to come. Along with this, you will have the opportunity to work on time management when you can visualize your schedule.
In life, we often set goals, but do we always create realistic ones that will truly benefit our futures and lives? Well, it is very important to create attainable goals that allow us to have something to pursue and continually work at. Goals also allow us to work on the idea of balance because it develops how our time should be spent and what it should be spent on.
Having a support group or circle you can rely on will give you the chance to connect with others, and may help you feel like you aren’t the only one who seems like they don’t have the time. There are so many options when it comes to the idea of a support group such as academic professors or advisors, classmates, coaches, and teammates. All of these examples give you an opportunity to reduce isolation, build skills, collaborate with others, and be held accountable.
Balance is ultimately the idea of prioritizing; working to focus on having planned schedules, clear goals, and a circle of support. Choosing to use these tips will help you make the most of your time and opportunities wherever you may be. It is very important to work on finding a way to balance life, whether it is academics and athletics, or something you personally struggle with creating time for, in order for you to get the best for your future and out of your life now.
