On the evening of February 3rd, in the midst of heavy snow and winter weather, ten Ministers and Youth Ministers from Restoration Movement churches across Carter, Lewis, and Boyd counties gathered at Kentucky Christian University for a special ACTS 1:8 Recruitment Plan Kick-Off Dinner. Their presence, despite the weather, was a powerful reminder of the shared commitment between KCU and our local churches.
The evening began with a warm welcome from KCU President Dr. Terry Allcorn, who greeted the pastors, shared words of gratitude for their partnership in ministry, and blessed the meal. The spirit in the room reflected the heart of the ACTS 1:8 framework, beginning in our “Judea” by strengthening relationships with the churches closest to us.
Jeremy Miller introduced KCU Reach, highlighting how the program equips KCU students to serve in local congregations through ministry placements, service opportunities, and hands-on leadership development. Ministers were encouraged to view KCU not only as a university, but as a ministry partner ready to send students into their churches to serve and grow.
Jake Ratliff, KCU Campus Minister, shared about the many faith-building opportunities available to students, from chapel and small groups to discipleship pathways and campus ministry leadership. He emphasized that KCU remains deeply committed to developing students spiritually as well as academically.
Admissions Counselor Braden Long concluded the evening with an in-depth presentation of the new Faith and Family College Planning Guide. He demonstrated how ministers can use this practical resource to walk alongside families in planning for college while reinforcing the importance of Christ-centered higher education.
The evening was a meaningful first step in strengthening partnerships and advancing the ACTS 1:8 recruitment vision, beginning right here at home.
