Ministry to Students
Who we are:
Central is a community of people who are devoted to following Jesus Christ. We are located in the city of Fort
Smith, Arkansas, and reach out to our community, the Arkansas River valley, our nation and the world. Our vision
is to reach people outside of Christ or outside of fellowship, take care of our people, and engage in the community
around us. Our church community is a growing population of 700 people with an attendance averaging 525. We
have six full-time staff pastors who serve at Central. We use a team approach to ministry.
Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible. We believe the word of God is sufficient and it is our final authority
on issues of faith and as a guide to living. The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, given to man so that
we may know and understand the truth of God and His love for us.
What we are looking for:
Central is looking for a Minster to Students (6 th -12 th Grades) to join our staff. We are looking for a leaders who is
creative and can share fresh ideas. We want someone who is able to think outside the box and lead our Student
Ministry in a fresh, real, relevant and Biblical way. We are open to the Lord’s leading for this position and would
consider someone who is completing their academic training or a veteran student minister.
Qualifications:
Must be a born-again believer with a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Must demonstrate a genuine love for and maintain a good rapport with students and their parents.
Must be able to exercise initiative and judgment as an independent worker.
Must possess and be willing to grow in organizational, administrative, and leadership abilities.
Must be able to equip others for the work of ministry.
Must be able to respond to changing needs throughout the daily and weekly schedule.

Job Description
Student Minister
Job Summary
To further the mission of the Church by effectively overseeing, directing, and developing ministries for Students,
including Mid-High and High School ministries. The goal of Student Ministry is to provide specialized care for students as
they develop through discipleship, teaching and social activities so that they mature; conforming to the image of Christ
and actively engaging in His mission.
Expectations
Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Reflects the characteristics of an Elder as described in I Timothy 3:1-3
Engage in a regular and ongoing accountability relationship with elders and staff.
Accountable to the Lead Pastor.
Implement a plan of continual self-development.
Cultivate personal relationships with students and their families.
Conditions of Employment
Models a Biblical standard of personal conduct and lifestyle.
Supports and adheres to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Philosophy of Ministry of Central.
Duties and Responsibilities
o General staff responsibilities:
Engage in pastoral responsibilities, as assigned, to include teaching, preaching, performing weddings and
funerals, pastoral counseling, assisting in worship services, communion, baptisms, child dedications and
hospital visits.
Assist in establishing ministry goals and objectives, and individual tactics that support the mission and vision
of the Church.
Recruit, train, schedule, equip and supervise volunteers for the ministry.
Propose and administer annual budgets.
○ Mid-High/High School Ministry:
Lead, cast vision, oversee, and direct all facets of the Student Ministry.
Provide visionary leadership and organizational structure for the Student Ministry.
Implement a plan to engage and recruit Central Students for Bible Study, Youth Groups, and outreach.
Train, schedule, equip and evaluate Adult Leaders and Volunteers.
Provide resources and curriculum to Youth Group Leaders and Bible Study Teachers.
Develop and implement a strategy to engage students in the Body Life at Central. Equip students to serve in
Sunday Morning Praise Gathering, 242 Groups, Outreach Events, and children’s ministry (in accordance with
the Child Safety Policy.
Assist new families and guests in taking advantage of Student Ministry.
Approve all curriculum used for Student Bible Studies at Central and give regular reports to the Leadership
Team.

Performance and Evaluation
Success in the position will be measured according to the performance assessment tool approved by the Staff Team
Leader and Elders. Performance will be evaluated in relevant areas, including but not limited to: completion of ministry goals and individual tactics, communication, teamwork, leadership, creativity, responsibility, self-motivation, attitude, and potential for growth.
