A Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Keeran School of Bible and Ministry!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Kentucky Christian University and considering the KSBM as a part of your educational and spiritual journey. Whether you are discerning God’s call for the first time, preparing for vocational leadership, strengthening your current leadership capacity, seeking to deepen your theological understanding, or pursuing graduate or doctoral education, I am grateful and honored that you are exploring what God might do through your experience at KCU.

At the Keeran School of Bible and Ministry, we believe that theological education is ultimately about transformation. Of course, you will deeply study the Scriptures, wrestle with theology, engage Christian history, and develop leadership skills for ministry and the workplace. However, our deepest desire is that through your educational and vocational pursuits, you become more deeply formed into the image of Jesus than when you started. Knowledge without Christlike character is incomplete. True leadership begins with spiritual transformation. Jesus did not call his disciples to simply acquire information – he called them to follow him. The KSBM Faculty embrace that same calling. We are committed to helping students become faithful disciples who think biblically, lead courageously, serve humbly, and engage the world with wisdom, conviction, and compassion.

This commitment shapes everything we do.

For more than a century, KCU has prepared leaders for Kingdom service. While our heritage is rooted in the Stone-Campbell Movement’s passion to restore New Testament Christianity and unite believers around the person and mission of Christ, our vision is firmly fixed on the future. The world into which we send our graduates continues to change rapidly, and it needs leaders who are grounded in biblical truth while equipped to navigate increasingly complex realities. Whether serving in a local church, on the mission field, in non-profit organizations, a classroom, a boardroom, in hospitals, business, or public service – our communities need Christian leaders who are rooted in Scripture, spiritually mature, culturally discerning, equipped to lead with wisdom and clarity, and who are called to bring the hope of the Gospel into every sphere of influence.

We believe that leadership is stewardship. It is not measured by position, title, or authority, but by faithful influence. Jesus redefined greatness through service, sacrifice, and obedience to the Father. That biblical vision of leadership shapes every degree program within the Keeran School of Bible and Ministry. Our goal is not only to prepare graduates for employment, but rather, it is to prepare both men and women who faithfully lead wherever God calls them.

Academic excellence and spiritual formation are not competing priorities – they are inseparable from one another. We challenge our students to think critically, communicate clearly, conduct meaningful research, and engage difficult questions without compromising biblical conviction. We desire our graduates to be men and women who possess both intellectual rigor and spiritual humility – leaders who can faithfully interpret God’s Word while thoughtfully and compassionately engaging today’s world.

At the same time, learning extends well beyond the classroom. Formation happens through mentoring relationships, ministry experiences, worship, service, and authentic Christian community. We seek to cultivate an environment where students are known personally, challenged spiritually, and encouraged to discover and develop the gifts God has entrusted to them.

Today, that mission reaches further than ever before. Through KCU Ascend, students across the nation and around the world can experience the same Christ-centered education through flexible online Certificate, Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctoral programs. Whether students study on our campus or online, they become a part of a global community that is committed to Scripture, scholarship, spiritual formation, and Kingdom impact. Technology has expanded our reach, but it has not changed our mission.

As the Keeran School of Bible and Ministry continues to grow, we remain committed to developing innovative programs that prepare Christian leaders for the challenges of the Twenty-First Century. No matter which program our students enter into, our purpose remains constant: equipping faithful men and women who will influence churches, organizations, and communities for the glory of God.
