Norton Christian Church: Pastor’s Job Description
Norton Christian Church is located in Wise County, in the beautiful
mountains of Southwest Virginia. Norton is located about an hour from
Kingsport, TN and an hour and a half from Johnson City, TN.
The Pastor of Norton Christian Church, will serve with the Elders and
Deacons in shepherding, teaching and equipping the members of NCC to
carry out our Mission to point people to faith in Christ and provide
people a place in Christ.
The Pastor of Norton Christian Church must have a calling to serve
with a small Church in a small town in the mountains. He will…
Lead worship and preach at our 8:45 and 11:00 Worship Services, and
teach in our 10:00 Disciple School.
Participate in our Monthly Business Meetings and facilitate our
monthly Leadership Meetings.
Host a radio ministry called “Bright Spots,” if he and the Elders
decide to continue it after the present Pastor retires.
Work with our Children Ministry Volunteers in providing Christian
Education and Ministry Activities, such as our Back to School Block
Party and Trunk or Treat.
Work with our Barnabas Breakfast Men’s Ministry.
Work with our Christian Women’s Fellowship.
Work with our EduCare Christian Preschool in an advisory role.
Provide pastoral care, officiate weddings (at his discretion) and funerals.
Work with our Livestreaming Ministry Team and oversee our website,
nortonchristianchurch.org.
Work with area Pastors and Churches in various community events such
as our annual Community Thanksgiving Service and Meal Ministry, our
Transient Ministry, and our partnership with the Wise County Health
Department Food Distribution Ministry.
Oversee various administrative needs and seasonal ministries.
