Personal Qualifications:
2+ years of youth ministry experience
Formal biblical training is preferred
Self-motivated, organized, passionate and team” player
Ability to motivate, gulp and encourage church members involvement in youth.
Maintain confidentiality with sensitive matters (personal, financial etc.)
Summary of responsibilities:
Diplomacy: (supervised by the lead minister and eldership)
Maintain a good working relationship with leaders of the church (Elders, ministers, ministry teams)
You will have at least one evaluation per year
Education:
Organize and oversee elementary, Jr. High and high school youth group once a week (with the help of a team of volunteers)
Less teaching of students and more teaching the team of volunteers
Plan, organize, and review all youth events, retreats, mission trips and programs to help grow parents and youth.
Establish and maintain database of youth attendees with names and contact info.
Actively participate in the Vacation Bible School program.
Organize youth on 5th Sundays to involve/teach the youth the aspects of worship service
Evangelism / Community work:
Promote “The Ark” Christian camp in youth programming (K-12), and track students going to camp and encourage them before, during and after.
Be actively involved in local schools through FCA, FFA, sports, music, awards programs etc. Also be active in the community in general as best one can be.
Contact and communicate to visitors/families of youth your availability to them.
Preach on 5th Sunday or in the absence of Senior Minister
Administration / Supervision:
Utilize technology, social media, bulletins, newsletters, calendars, website to keep parents, youth and congregants informed of current and upcoming events and programming that is aligned with church vision and core values.
Attend all relevant meetings.
Recruit youth sponsors and teachers as needed.
Keep office hours as agreed upon with Elders
Personal development:
Schedule one “personal development day” per quarter to renew and strengthen ones relationship with God by dedicating it to quiet time, personal study, prayer, etc….
Schedule at least one “ministry field day” per year to visit and learn from someone else in your area of ministry. ie. Visit another church, discover new ideas, gather info and resources.
