    Position Description

    Church Description:

Valley View Christian Church is a healthy and growing church in Edgewood, NM, which is the hub of a group of semi-rural bedroom communities 20 miles east of Albuquerque called the East Mountains (population: 25,000). Since 2001 the church has grown from averaging 115 to 680 in 3 identical contemporary Worship Gatherings each Sunday.

A key feature of Edgewood & the East Mountains is a unique diversity. Three counties (Santa Fe, Bernalillo & Torrance) have municipalities that make up the East Mountain community. Each county brings a different demographic. The diversity of the East Mountains is well represented within church. Currently, people from 9 different communities in the area call Valley View home, including Albuquerque. As a result, there is diversity of age, socio-economic level, education and ethnicity (predominantly Caucasian and Hispanic).

Much of the draw to the church is relevant biblical teaching that transcends beyond Sunday mornings. Valley View also has healthy small group involvement and dynamic youth & children’s ministries. Over the last 15 years the church has developed strong relationships with the area school systems, local governments and business community by serving in various ways in and to the community.

The Worship Pastor will oversee & pastor those serving in the worship ministry. In addition, he will oversee the audiovisual components that are critical to the Sunday morning Worship Gatherings.

Qualities that are desired in the Worship Pastor are:

    • A heart of humility
    • An experienced musician and vocalist who is able to lead contemporary worship
    • An ability to build a team of worshipers who are talented musically and vocally
    •  A strong desire to multiply himself within the ministry and be a team player in partnership with the Valley View staff

    Preferred Experience:

    • A bachelor’s degree in Ministry/Bible and ideally trained in Worship Arts
    • 5 years of experience as a Worship Pastor

Well Equipped

“I look back at my four years at Kentucky Christian University often and fondly. The classes were relevant, the professors were genuine, and the campus was focused on the schools mission: Christ, Character, Career. I was well equipped to minister to and lead worship in the hundreds of congregations we visit each year as the band “64 to Grayson”. If I went back and was faced with the choice to go to KCU again, I would do it in a heartbeat.”

Zack Shelton, Class of 2013
