    ●       Utilize creative resources to create inspiring worship environments in adult worship facilities.

    ●       Facilitate the use of music that utilizes modern language — accessible to people with limited religious background — and appeals to attenders in our target audience: Families with young children living at home.

    ●       Work collaboratively with the preaching minister and other staff members to plan and execute engaging worship assemblies that highlight themes of grace, redemption and spiritual growth, in concert with themes of messages and message series when applicable.

    ●       Coordinate with ministry staff members and lead the efforts to inform the congregation of important next-step opportunities for service, community and spiritual growth. This includes creative digital and on-stage announcements in worship services.

    5. Personal and Professional Development-10%

One of the most important aspects of leadership is self-leadership. This allows a pastor to lead from a solid foundation and out of the overflow of his heart and soul.

    • Maintain a vibrant devotional life including Bible reading, prayer and other spiritual disciplines.
    • Read and study, network with student ministers and other area leaders and attend conferences.
    • Follow a mentor, be rooted in community and pour into others.

    Position Description

The Wapella Christian Church purpose is to worship, obey and serve God by leading others to commit their lives to Christ as Lord and Savior, edify the saved, restore the church revealed in the scriptures and minister to the needy in the community. We are seeking a full time preacher for our Sunday morning service, as well as being capable of leading adult Sunday School class.  We have approximately 80 members with an average worship attendance of 40.  The church supports missions with 15% of our budget and is debt free.  In 2017 we celebrated our 150th year.

Wapella is a village of approximately 550 residents located in DeWitt County in central Illinois. A former grade school has been converted into a community center, and a beautiful park with a pavilion, tennis courts, walking path and two ball parks are located across the street from the church.  Wapella has an active community organization that provides free activities for families of the village throughout the year.  The town of Clinton is located 5 miles south of the church where there is a local hospital, medical facilities, as well as schools, a library and YMCA.  We are also centrally located between Bloomington/Normal, Decatur and northeast of Lincoln where many of our past ministers have taken advantage of continued education at Lincoln Christian University.

Each year in July we host a Vacation Bible School program that draws 30+ children from Wapella and the surrounding communities. In September we have a fund raising stand at the Clinton Apple and Pork Festival for our Youth Group which is our major source of funding for all youth activities during the year.

Starting salary is $28,000 and negotiable with experience/education and a three bedroom parsonage attached to the church with utilities paid for is included as well.

If possible when submitting a resume please include a current photo, reference, and an audio or video sermon if possible as well.
