    Job title Student Minister
    Reports to Lead Pastor/Elders

     

    Job purpose

     

    Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:24 (NLT), “for it is by your own faith that you stand firm.” With this in mind, we want the Student Minister at Rocklane to creatively develop programs, relationships, and various other opportunities that will help the junior and senior high students to grow and develop in their own faith. This includes becoming Christ followers and growing deeper in their knowledge and relationship with God.

     

    Duties and responsibilities

     

    • This person will maintain a growing and active personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The leadership and congregation of Rocklane will work to be a catalyst to this effort.
    • This would be a person who is committed to and passionate about youth ministry
    • Relational and effective communicator
    • Responsibly for 6th to 12th grade students
    • Challenge and equip these students for a real and growing relationship with Christ.
    • Work to engage all Rocklane students in this age range.
    • Teach and preach at various gathering not limited to youth gatherings.
    • Create worship experiences for youth to help nurture spiritual growth.
    • Have a healthy balance of fun and depth to all parts of ministry.
    • Maintain regular programing, events, and discipleship opportunities (counseling, small groups, mentorship relationships with youth sponsors etc.) toward these goals
    • Recruit and train volunteers
    • Come along side parents and provide training, resources, learning opportunities to help them in growing and guiding their children
    • Establish goals and objectives
      1. Work with Children’s ministry in mission, goals, transition, and continuity
      2. Work with lead pastor, staff, & elders to maintain unified vision overall.
    • Be a presence in the school system where youth attend.
    • Conducts weddings and funerals when requested.
    • Provide shepherding and evangelistic outreach opportunities .
    • Provide a calendar of upcoming events for student, parents, Staff, and Elders.
    • Establish a vision statement along with short and long term goals for your ministry that align with Rocklane’s over all mission and goal.
    • Maintain the budget with the treasurer.

    Qualifications

     

    This position requires a degree in ministry or equal years experience.

     

    Working conditions

     

    This position requires weekend and evening hours to be successful in it’s execution. Position may also require physical activity to participate in youth functions.

    • Continue to Develop a cohesive youth sponsor team of adults, and develop implement a youth coach support system consisting of college age students who need a place to serve.

    Located in the fastest growing city in the state of Missouri, Wentzville Christian Church is a church with great opportunity before her.

    The church is over fifty years old, but in the last ten years WCC has relocated to a highly visible location, with an attractive facility. During that decade the church has grown to an average Sunday attendance of 650 in two Sunday services. Contemporary style worship, and messages with practical application, vibrant children’s and youth ministries are all helping impact the young families that are streaming into Wentzville and the surrounding area.     The Senior Minister will primarily lead the charge in taking Wentzville Christian Church to the next level. He will join a great young staff, and a team of elders who are anticipating a great future. The successful candidate will be one who has led with skill, humility, and strength over the years. The next Senior Minister will have a background of dynamic leadership experience in the local church.

    He will possess a high sense of social intelligence and prioritize the need to be approachable, accessible, and adaptable. His preaching will be biblically sound, relevant to the culture, and full of practical application. He will be largely responsible for creating methods of cohesive collaboration across the ministries, while vision casting and generating systems that will take the church to the next level. The next Senior Minister will be particularly mindful of creating continuity and sustainability when implementing systems that propel church growth over the next several years.

    The successful candidate must have a proven track record of ministry, preferably in a large church setting. A college degree is required for this position, although a seminary background is a plus. The Senior Minister will have shown giftedness in a senior minister role or in a similar capacity, while relating across generational lines and across a church and community of socio-economic diversity. The Senior Minister must be a leader who exemplifies and communicates both grace and truth, particularly with a strong understanding of theological tenets coinciding with the Restoration Movement. The successful candidate will have both a respect for the past and innovation for the future. The Senior Minister must model an authentic life of servanthood and a Christ follower.

    Wentzville is a young community in which the average age is 31. With over 30,000 now calling Wentzville home—the community has nine elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools—and all have an excellent reputation. Once a rural community, Wentzville is now a burgeoning suburb of young professionals, where the median household income is $73,000 a year. The community is less than an hour away from downtown St. Louis, with all of its rich history, cultural, and sports offerings.     Position Description

    Position: Paid part time Junior High Minister at Southwest Church. Flexible hours to be negotiated with the Student Minister— 20 hours per week. Report weekly hours to the Student Minister.

    Purpose: The purpose is to minister to students in grades 6, 7, and 8 and to collaborate with the Student Minister in administering, developing, and implementing a student ministry that is following Jesus and making disciples.

    Responsibilities: As a ministry staff member of Southwest Church, the successful candidate will be called upon to perform a variety of duties with the primary functions being identified below.

    1. Have overall responsibility of the Junior High Ministry (6th – 8th grade).  Which includes:
      1. Providing leadership and coaching to assist in the growth and effectiveness of adult volunteers.
      2. Teaching student classes and small group discussions.
      3. Assist in planning regular weekly student events (in addition to weekend worship gatherings of Southwest Church).
      4. Planning special junior high student events (campouts, lock-ins, service projects, etc.)
      5. Coordinating and clearly communicating ministry efforts with the Student Minister, volunteers/adult sponsors and parents within Southwest Church.
      6. Communicating and cooperating with the Student Minister, Southwest Church leadership and finance team to adhere to an approved student ministry budget.
    1. Attend all regularly scheduled staff meetings and collaborate in planning Weekend Gatherings.
    1. Assist, support, and even possibly substitute for the Student Minister in various ministry responsibilities.
    1. Assist with administrative duties as necessary.

    In all things, staff members at Southwest Church are expected to live their lives, provide for their families and behave in a manner consistent with the Biblical teachings and the stated purpose and mission of Southwest Church.

    Accountability: This position serves under the direct supervision of the Student Minister.

    Southwest is an 18 year old church in the midst of an exciting time of growth! The church has been in its own building for 4 years and we have broken ground on Phase 2. This phase is adding nearly 8,000 sq. ft. for new Children’s Ministry area and staff offices. Our current children’s ministry wing is being renovated to give junior high and high school students their first permanent meeting space ever!

    Rock Lake Christian Assembly (RLCA) a year-round camping, and retreat facility in Vestaburg, Michigan is currently reviewing resumes to fill the position of Camp Director. The Camp Director works closely with nine elected Trustees to manage the affairs of the Assembly.     EDUCATION/TRAINING:

    Bible College training would be desirable. Experience in a Christian Camping Ministry is a plus. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience is required.

     

    SUPERVISES:

    The Camp Director supervises the Facilities Manager, Office Manager, Business Manager and Food Service Manager. The Camp Director oversees all of the Deans for the various youth camp sessions and assists them in the preparation and planning of activities and education.

    Northern Light is located in Brooklyn Park, a northern suburb of Minneapolis. He must also possess significant Bible knowledge and the ability to teach and apply that knowledge appropriately. The congregation desires lessons with practical application to daily Christian living. We are especially interested in someone with successful outreach experience, meeting and studying with those outside the church. He needs to be able to meet and cultivate relationships with a wide range of people including un-churched, seekers, etc., and help motivate the congregation to greater works and fruits of the Spirit.

     

    In summary we wish to provide worship and spiritual development that:

    • An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Bible, Ministry, Youth Minister, Family Ministry or a related major is preferable.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to make persuasive, motivating and effective verbal presentations of biblical and related topics in a variety of situations (classroom, individual teaching situations, etc.)
    • The ability to work with and build rapport with a wide diversity of people and situations to include the eldership, the deacons and ministry team leaders, the Northern Light family, and the un-churched and seekers in our community.
    • The demonstrated ability to solve problems and address issues in a firm, Bible-based, appropriate and discrete manner.

    Who we are:

    South Side Church of Christ is a non-denominational church of 300 members located approximately 45 minutes south of Columbus and an hour from Cincinnati. The community surrounding the church is growing and offers many opportunities for youth ministry. At this time, we are continuously growing.     What we are looking for:

    Job Details:

     

    1. Must agree with the teachings and goals of South Side Church of Christ.
    2. Plan and Develop goals, activities, and direction for the Children’s and Youth Ministry. (Ages: birth-12th grade.)
    3. Plan and be responsible for the oversight of:
      1. Sunday morning Programming (including nursery.)
      2. Sunday Night Programming (including nursery.)
      3. Wednesday Night Programming (including nursery.)
    4. Plan, attend, and execute 1 monthly activity for children and youth.
    5. Present the events of all children’s and youth ministry three months in advance to the Eldership meeting for approval.
    6. Spend time outside of the office with children and youth and their families.
    7. Recruit, train, and support a team of teachers, and children’s and youth workers to help in the ministry of children and youth.
    8. Be in charge of Vacation Bible School each year.       (This includes every aspect of VBS.) Have finances for VBS approved at the monthly Elders meeting.
    9. Plan and attend at least one annual conference for youth ministry.
    10. Provide a once a year parent meeting to inform parents of goals and plans.

     

    Monthly Details:

     

    1. Keep office hours from 9:00-12:00 Monday thru Thursday. (Except when approved by Sr. Minister)
    2. Organize a children’s and youth ministry team that meets once a month for the planning of activities.
    3. Attend a monthly Leadership Meeting.
    4. Attend South Side Church of Christ activities and services offered with your family.
    5. Visit sick children and youth in emergency situations.
    6. Attend community events outside of church programming when South Side Children and youth are participating.
    7. Oversee all aspects of children-youth programming including: lessons, activities, teacher recruitment, fundraisers, and anything else pertaining to infant-12th grade.
    8. Review the weekly bulletin and all church publications.
    9. Take on Additional responsibilities as assigned by Sr. Minister.

     

    Other:

     

    1. Salary and benefits will be determined annually by the Elders.
    2. Vacation: Two weeks the first year, Three weeks the third year, Four weeks after four years none of which can be taken consecutively, and are required to be used within one calendar year.
    3. One month notification prior to any vacation taken.
    4. Sundays and Wednesday are all day employment. Any time taken off on these days has to be approved in advanced and will be counted as a vacation day.
    5. 5 Sick Days each year.
    6. Bereavement and Child birth days off will be approved by the Eldership.
    7. Holidays will be approved by the Eldership.
