Concert Band

The KCU Concert Band was formed in the fall of 1999 to meet a growing need within the Department of Music to provide additional instrumental opportunities for music majors and non-music majors. No audition for this ensemble is required. Literature is drawn from the standard repertoire for concert band. The Concert Band rehearses twice weekly and gives a concert each semester.

Ars Nova

Ars Nova is a select group of students who perform 15th -20th century a cappella madrigal and vocal jazz music. In the 2007 spring semester, the ensemble performed in the premiere of "Puss and Boots," a one act operetta written by Amy Golightly. Performances were held at Campbellsville University and Kentucky Christian University. The ensemble performs annually at the Feast of Christmas and tours high schools in the spring.

Concert Choir

The Kentucky Christian University Concert Choir is an auditioned mixed chorus comprised of music majors and students from other disciplines. The choir has performed five concerts in Carnegie Hall under the baton of John Rutter, Jonathan Wilcocks and their conductor, Dr. Mark Deakins, Dean of the School of Music. The choir tours each year to churches, performs in the concerts of the Feast of Christmas at Kentucky Christian University and performs at conferences throughout the year.

The choir has thirteen recordings, one of which received a Dove Award nomination for Best Choral Collection Recording of the Year. The choir will perform at the Feast of Christmas, Nov. 27–Dec. 1, 2007 and at the Gaither Homecoming at Rupp Arena on December 8, 2007. The choir will also perform at the International Choral Festival in Havana, Cuba from April 21–28, 2008. Purchase Concert Choir CD's

Chorale

The Kentucky Christian University Chorale was established in 1994 as an on-campus chorus to perform during the university's chapel services. As the choir grew, numerically and in the quality of its presentation, it was determined to utilize the Chorale to represent the university on tour. The Chorale's inaugural tour took place in April, 1998.

The KCU Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Mark Deakins, performed Durufle's Requiem in Carnegie Hall in April, 1999. The Chorale returned to Carnegie Hall and performed Vivaldi's Gloria and Poulenc's Gloria on Easter Sunday, 2002. Their next performance in Carnegie Hall is scheduled on April 20, 2008. The Chorale will join the Concert Choir once again performing Maurice Durufle's Requiem.

The Chorale performs each year with the Concert Choir in the annual Feast of Christmas concerts held on the college campus. They tour annually in the spring semester.
