Proven Programs of Preparation

Developed According to State and National Accreditation Guidelines, Leading to Certification

Primary through Grade 5

Graduates of this program will be prepared to teach elementary school age children. Students can choose a Bachelor of Science Degree, Major in Teacher Education P-5 which includes 50 credit hours in Arts and Sciences, 30 hours in Bible and Theology and 53 hours in Education or a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Major in Teacher Education P-5 which includes an additional 12 hours of Biblical or modern language.

Middle School: Grades 5-9

Graduates of this program will be prepared to teach middle school age children in at least 2 disciplines or teaching fields. Students choose two teaching fields from the following: English and Communications, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. A Bachelor of Science Degree, Major in Teacher Education Middle School: Grades 5-9 includes a 30 hour Arts and Sciences core, a 30 hour Bible and Theology core, 43 hours in Professional Education, and 2 teaching field areas or a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Major in Teacher Education Middle School: Grades 5-9 which includes an additional 12 hours of Biblical or modern language.

Integrated Music: All Grades

Graduates of this program will be prepared to teach both vocal and instrumental music at all levels, elementary, middle and high school. A Bachelor of Science Degree, Major in Teacher Education Integrated Music: All Grades includes a 33 hour Arts and Sciences core, a 30 hour Bible and Theology core, 35 hours in Professional Education, and 48 hours in music or a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Major in Teacher Education Integrated Music: All Grades which includes an additional 12 hours of Biblical or modern language.

Teacher Education - Secondary School: Grades 8-12

Two Programs: English and Social Studies

Graduates with an English major will be prepared to teach English and Literature at the high school level. Graduates with a Social Studies major will be prepared to teach civics, government, economics, history and geography at the high school level. Students can choose a Bachelor of Science Degree, Major in Teacher Education Secondary School English which includes a 30 hour Arts and Sciences core, a 30 hour Bible and Theology core, 35 hours in Professional Education and 39 hours in the teaching major, English. Those choosing the English teaching major are required to take 6 hours of a non-English language. By completing an additional 6 hours of the non-English language required in their major, students can earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Major in Teacher Education Secondary School English. For those interested in Social Studies, they can choose a Bachelor of Science Degree, Major in Teacher Education Secondary School Social Studies which includes a 30 hour Arts and Sciences core, a 30 hour Bible and Theology core, 35 hours in Professional Education and 45 hours in the teaching major, Social Studies, or a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Major in Teacher Education Secondary School Social Studies which includes an additional 12 hours of Biblical or modern language.
