I am Nancy Mahon, a member of South America Mission, Inc., which has its headquarters in Fort Mill, SC. South America Mission works in five countries in South America; Brazil, Bolivia, Columbia, Peru, and Paraguay.
My family and I live and work in the jungle rain forest part of Peru, near a town called Pucallpa. It is about 75 miles from the border with Brazil. We have a small mission school for children of missionaries called SAM Academy. The instruction is in English. For the coming school year, we need Elementary and Secondary teachers, plus an Special Education teacher.
Would you be willing to please get word out to your students about these opportunities for the coming year? We would very much appreciate your help. Here is the statement about the need for a special education teacher prepared by our school administrator and field director, though we also need the others, as mentioned:
URGENT NEED: A Special Education teacher for a small missionary kids’ school in Pucallpa, PERU. SAM Academy serves five missionary agencies working in the jungle area of eastern Peru, providing a solid, Christian education for the children of these organizations. The school averages between 20 – 30 students who are taught in three, multi-grade classrooms (elementary, middle, and high school). Over the last few years in our missionary community, the number of students with learning disabilities has increased. SAM Academy wishes to serve and minister to these children and their parents as well by including them as much as possible in normal classroom settings and in the environment offered by the school. Please spread the word of this urgent need of a special education teacher, and pray with us that God will supply the right individual to meet this need.
