Music Auditions

The audition for the School of Music at Kentucky Christian University consists of preparing two selections of contrasting styles for your best performing skill: voice, piano and/or instrument. Classical music is preferred but not required. Singing in a foreign language is encouraged but not required. This audition will also be for placement in one of the choral/instrumental ensembles. Example: If your primary applied is voice and you play the piano, please prepare two selections each for voice and piano. If you also play an instrument, please prepare two pieces with that instrument.
You will also take a music theory placement test which will consist of the fundamentals of music theory. You must pass the placement test with a minimum score of 70% to test out of Foundations of Music Theory (MUF 091).
Once you have been accepted at KCU you may contact your Enrollment Counselor at 1.800.522.3181 to schedule an appointment for your audition. Two Saturdays in April-May are selected for auditions. However, if your schedule does not permit you to attend the auditions on the selected dates, you may schedule an alternative date on which to audition.
