The Vision of First Christian Church
Leading People Closer to Jesus Christ: At First Christian, we agree that the local church is the hope of the world. The church may be the only organization that exists for people who aren’t members yet. And for those who are members — Christ-followers — we must continue to grow closer to Jesus — closer in our walk with Him, and closer in our imitation of Him. All of this adds up to one simple statement that everyone in our church knows:
LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, SERVE THE WORLD
That’s how we accomplish the vision. We love our Heavenly Father and worship Him alone; we build authentic, loving relationships; we use our time and talents to reach out to the world and grow God’s family. This is why we exist.

What is REUNION?
REUNION is a community of people pursuing the mission of helping people find
their way back to God. We believe the Gospel changes everything, especially
the hearts of those who follow Christ. We also believe that God has
graciously provided the means to reconcile and redeem our broken lives and
world through Jesus Christ, the hero of the story. We seek to be a
grace-filled community that is approachable to all, yet courageously speaks
the truth of the Gospel in love. We want to be a place that provides rest for
the weary and hope for the hopeless; a place where people can grow and
mature; where we can challenge people to learn what it means to passionately
follow Christ. We strive to create a place to live out our growing faith in
Christ by living humbly and loving recklessly. To do all this, we expect our
leaders to connect with people from various places of spiritual health and
maturity and to point them to a life of discipleship. We seek to tell the
story of God’s grace through our generosity in both local & global causes,
community groups, the arts, and Sunday gatherings. We are committed to
reproducing disciples, community groups, and churches that are radically
committed to the good of the city.
We are a multi-site, Independent Christian Church serving the neighborhoods
of Boston, the city of Somerville, and the surrounding communities. As an
Independent Christian Church, we believe in adult baptism as an outward sign
of our belief in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We receive Communion each week
and believe that membership to our community is self-determined when an
individual recognizes REUNION as their church home. We are elder guided and
staff led. The elders work in collaboration with our pastoral staff to set
the doctrine, discipline and direction for our community, and to ensure the
financial and relational health of the church. The Elders empower and
encourage staff as they lead, develop and coordinate leaders, contributors
and our entire community in moving the mission of REUNION forward.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has been called by God to lead REUNION to be
the kind of church outlined above throughout greater Boston. We are seeking
someone to lead us into the next chapter of our story. Someone committed to
the challenge of ministry in an urban, post-Christian, center of knowledge.
We are looking for a servant leader with a love for developing and discipling
staff and REUNION leaders who in turn reproduce passionate leaders. We are
pursuing someone gifted in casting and inspiring a Christ-centered vision for
the next season of growth at REUNION. Most importantly, we are looking for
someone radically committed to following Jesus and seeks to live that out
through a life of daily discipleship.
What is your Role?
The Lead Pastor will lead the mission of REUNION and align everything we do
with the mission of helping people find their way back to God and helping
them grow as disciples of Christ. The Lead Pastor is responsible for the
development and coaching of our full and part-time staff with a collaborative
approach with defined responsibilities. Discipline and development of staff
is a priority and we expect you to create an environment of teamwork and
collaboration that reproduces leaders. REUNION's Lead Pastor would lead our
teaching team by developing and reproducing teachers for campus locations and
setting the direction for communicating the gospel through the teaching on
Sunday mornings. You will function as both the lead pastor to our entire
community, but also as the location pastor to our Back Bay community. Those
pastoral responsibilities would include, but not be limited to pre-marital
and marriage counseling, spiritual guidance, follow-up with new attenders,
and leadership community. Administratively, the Lead Pastor will give
oversight to the budget, hiring and firing of staff, and serve as an elder.
