Position Description
Classroom Teacher
The American Indian Christian Mission is looking for someone who is mission minded and likes to work with children. AICM has a boarding school for Apache and Navajo children (will be 3rd- 6th grade for the 2013-2014 school year). It is located near Show Low Arizona in the beautiful White Mountains. We are looking for someone to teach 3rd & 4th grades (combined class: around 10 to 12 children). Need to be on campus by Aug. 7th 2013. Summers may be used for some vacation, ministry on the mission, and/or raising support. Minimum qualifications: a bachelors degree and must be at least 21 years of age. Teaching experience or a teaching certificate is preferred, and we would like someone who is active in a Christian Church or Church of Christ congregation. We would also like a commitment of at least 2 years or more. Base salary is $16,000. Package includes housing, utilities, and food (equivalent to a salary of around $33,000). Apache Christian Connection - Bus Ministry Position
The American Indian Christian Mission is looking for a couple who is mission minded, is able to drive a school bus and would like to work with Native American children. This couple will drive a converted school bus to several locations on the Fort Apache Reservation to provide Biblical teaching for children through stories, songs, and crafts. The kids also play games around the bus after the lessons. The bus goes out year round. During the summer, churches from around the country send ministry teams to AICM to help, and most teams go on the bus to do VBS like programs with the kids. Our mission is located near Show Low Arizona in the beautiful White Mountains. Minimum qualifications include: high school diploma & be at least 21 years of age. Prefer individuals who have bus or truck driving experience (but we are willing to train), has had some ministry / missions experience or has a degree from a Bible college and is active in a Christian Church or Church of Christ congregation. Base salary is $18,000 to $20,000 per year (depending on the couple’s experience). Package includes housing, utilities, and food (equivalent to a salary of around $34,000). Will have the opportunity to raise more support as missionaries if needed. We also have part time positions available with morning hours (the bus usually goes out around 2:30pm). Our Minister Should:
Be comfortable speaking with both young and old. He should be prepared for weddings as well as funerals. This position would require the capacity to relate to all age groups and developing relationships as a Spiritual Leader in the community.
As an Educator:
The senior minister would be responsible for preaching the Lord’s Word
each Sunday and teaching weekly Bible classes as necessary. He would also
oversee our teaching staff as they prepare lessons, reviewing materials
appropriate to the different age groups.
As an Administrator:
This position would require regular reports to the Church Board in relation
to church programs, church events and the overall condition of the church.
A regular office schedule will be posted as well as visitation calls. This
schedule is meant for general information not to restrict the minister in
other necessary duties that may arise such as hospital calls.
The senior minister is responsible for all of the regular office staff,
scheduling weekly meetings and communicating as necessary.

The senior minister will promote the Gospel within the community in word and

Position Purpose

Reporting Relations

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop a vibrant, Biblical vision for children’s ministry. Examples of current Children’s Ministry activities include Sunday School, The Garden/God’s Greenhouse (Children’s Church) and REAL Life (mid-week program).
2. Recruit, train, shepherd, encourage and motivate adult leaders who will execute that vision. Examples include monthly leadership meeting/trainings, one-on-one or small group lunches, etc…
3. Communicate Children’s Ministry vision and values to leadership, families and the entire congregation. Examples include web site, worship service announcements, & email updates.
4. Develop strong discipling relationships with children and their parents. Examples include baptism instruction/counseling, meeting kids at their schools and discipleship groups.
5. Continually asses the spiritual growth of children in our congregation and engage them in “leading” appropriate ministry activities.
6. Plan and promote strong large and small scale children’s events. Current examples include VBS, church camp, retreats, Harvest Party & Parents’ Nights Out.
7. Oversee Children’s Ministry budget, curriculum and facilities with a team mentality.
8. Perform other tasks or ministerial roles asked of you that would benefit the overall health and well-being of the church. For example you may be asked to assist with the performance of shepherding duties (hospital visitation, funerals, weddings, counseling, etc.).
9. Take a proactive role in your own spiritual health growing alongside the Hill-n-Dale community and communicating with leadership your own spiritual growth needs in a timely manner.
Criteria for Performance Evaluation
Performance will be measured by an annual review which evaluates: the manner in which yearly goals were achieved; the fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities listed in this job description; the quality of relationships with children, families, church members, church leadership and other staff members.
Subjective issues will be evaluated by answering the following question: Is the Children’s Ministry perceived to be growing in enthusiasm, leadership, quality and depth?
