Professional Experience

Dr. Gail Wise began her career as a staff nurse followed by management positions in acute care and community nursing. The majority of her professional career Gail has served in nursing education. Having both administrative and teaching expertise as a technical, associate degree, baccalaureate, and graduate degree educator, has provided her with the opportunity to make significant contributions to the nursing profession.

Gail’s appointment to the Kentucky Board of Nursing in 2004 and reappointment in 2008, has further provided ways to promote the profession of nursing. As a Board member, she has chaired the Education Committee. Serving on other standing and ad hoc Board of Nursing Committees provides Dr. Wise a means of dealing with current nursing issues and challenges. Additionally, she has been actively involved in many professional organizations such as the Kentucky Nurses Association, Nurses Christian Fellowship, American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, and American Public Health Association. In 2001 she developed the Kentucky Christian University Baccalaureate School of Nursing.

Dr. Wise is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Community Health Nursing and Nursing Professional Development and has published several articles. She has been an American Heart Association Affiliate Faculty, acted as a consultant in various health facilities, and volunteers in community activities. Gail has acquired funding for multiple grant proposals. Dr. Wise was one of 50 University of Kentucky College of Nursing graduates who were recognized for their accomplishments and contributions within the Commonwealth of Kentucky and across the nation.
