Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ Graphic

When should I apply to KCU?
We urge students to apply beginning September 1. We award scholarships on December 1, so if you want to be considered for those scholarships, you need to be fully accepted by December 1.
Is KCU fully accredited?
Yes. We are fully accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). This is the same group that accredits Morehead State University, the University of Kentucky, among other large state schools.
What is academic life like at KCU?

KCU offers 27 majors through the schools of Education, Bible & Ministry, Business Administration, Social Work & Human Services, Arts & Sciences, Music, and Nursing.
Why is there an emphasis for Bible & Ministry, Biology/Pre-Professional Studies, and Business Administration?
We offer different emphases under the umbrella of a certain major so students will get a broader education within that major. For instance, if you major in Bible & Ministry and emphasize in Youth and Family Ministry, our degree will prepare you to go into Adult Ministry, Small Groups Ministry, or other settings if needed.
What is KCU’s student-to-faculty ratio?
There is a professor for every 15 students, so our ratio is 15:1.
Does KCU offer in-state and out-of-state tuition?
No. Our tuition remains the same for in-state and out-of-state students.
What scholarships are available?
Every student who meets our admissions standards receives an academic scholarship of some kind, based on GPA and ACT/SAT scores. It can range from $1,000 to $15,000 per year.
What sports can I receive a scholarship for?
You can only receive a scholarship for football, since that sport participates in the NAIA. All of our other sports participate in the NCCAA, which doesn’t allow us to scholarship them.
When should I fill out the FAFSA?
You should fill out the FAFSA as soon as you can after January 1 of your senior year of high school. Your Admissions Counselor can help you through the process.
What’s the meal plan like at KCU?
We have an unlimited meal plan, meaning you can go into our cafeteria as many times as you want to eat. The price of this is included in KCU’s total financial package.
Can students bring a car on campus?

Students are allowed to bring cars on campus. Cars must be registered with the Student Services Department and a parking permit will then be issued.
What furniture is provided in the dorms?

For a complete list of what is provided and what you need for your dorm list, refer to the Dorm Checklist.
Is Chapel attendance required at KCU?

Yes. Chapel is mandatory twice a week, on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, unless an exemption has been approved through the Student Services Department.
Is there a dress code on campus?

Yes. The rule to follow is one of modesty. For further information on dress code, please refer to the KCU Student Handbook.
Is there a curfew on campus?
KCU does enforce a curfew on campus. Sunday evening through Thursday evening is 12:00 midnight. Friday and Saturday evening, the curfew is 1:00 a.m. For more information concerning student life, consult the KCU Student Handbook.
